Giovanni Galetti was born in Milan in 1971. He began his musical studies in 1981 and for seven consecutive years he participated in Opera productions and other choral stage works as a boy soprano soloist at Teatro alla Scala, where he had the great fortune to collaborate with maestros such as Lorin Maazel and Nikolaus Harnoncourt.
Following his graduation, in 1993, from the Verdi Conservatory in Milan he performed with various orchestras in Italy including the residence orchestra of Teatro alla Scala, working under the direction of Giuseppe Sinopoli and Semyon Bychkov. From 1997 till 2000, he served as the first bassoon of the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra in Japan. During that time, he performed on several occasions for major television networks such as KBS, and NHK and recorded for a number of prestigious labels such as Sony and Philips.
Since 2001 he is the principal bassoonist of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra.
