6th International Short Film Festival: Day 2

More than 60 short films from Cyprus and the world will compete this year for the grand awards of the 6th International Short Film Festival of Cyprus, which will take place from the 15th to the 21st October 2016, at the Rialto Theatre, in Limassol.

Varicella: Varicella is about passion and success, and about the tender bond between two sisters who share a dream. “Dance with an open soul,” Nastia says to Polina when she starts doubting about her abilities. In the end, even the roller blinds in the rehearsal room dance along with them.

Madam Black: When portrait photographer Marcus finds himself in an awkward situation after running over a young girl’s cat, he attempts to ease the problem by inventing a story about its disappearance. Telling the girl her pet has gone on a round-the-world trip, he finds himself having to embellish his white lie through a series of postcards - but this solution soon threatens to become more trouble than it was worth.

Bad Habits: Bad Habits tells the story of a librarian who makes a discovery. In an attempt to settle the matter, he becomes involved in a dangerous situation that puts him at risk. In the meantime, he forms a new habit. Good or bad? That's subjective!

The Irrational Fear of Nothing: Following behind the back of a paranoid, neurotic man named Terry as he wanders through the streets of Manhattan. Past memories and his irrational inner thoughts soon plague his every move. By channelling a form of mental time travel, he attempts to overcome these past anxieties.

Son: Set against the backdrop of post-war Germany, the screen adaptation of Siegfried Lenz' short story shows a snapshot in time of Mr. Schwamm who wants to save his depressed son. During the pivotal night of this mission, he has an odd encounter.

La Soupe  / The Soupe: A man has two chickens. When one chicken gets ill, the man kills the healthy one to make a soup for the poorly one. This is a story that inverts our perception about priorities and superiorities, and the thin line between love, life and nonsense.
