More than 60 short films from Cyprus and the world will compete this year for the grand awards of the 6th International Short Film Festival of Cyprus, which will take place from the 15th to the 21st October 2016, at the Rialto Theatre, in Limassol.

In Half: An eccentric artist creates a work of art that is slammed by critics. She can't understand what's wrong with it, but not everyone sees the glass half full. How much will artistic freedom cost her?

Black: Black tells a story about a pair of astronauts trapped on an orbital space station because of a nuclear war that erupted unexpectedly on Earth. They lose contact with Earth and all attempts to communicate with their base or anybody else fail. All they can do now is watch nuclear explosions taking place on the surface of the Earth and try to survive together somehow.

My Best Friend is Stuck on the Ceiling: Connor, secretly in love with his best friend Rach, has gotten her an amazing birthday present. Something that’s sure to knock her off her feet. But, when things take a sharply peculiar turn, Connor begins to wonder whether he would have been better off just getting a gift voucher.

The Sniper of Kobani: The Sniper of Kobani is a portrait of Haron, a Kurdish fighter who came to the Syrian town of Kobani to end the IS occupation. Haron works as a sniper, amidst the enormous ruins of the city. In his hide-out, he reflects on his hopes and nightmares.

Sactioned: Year unknown. The future bleak. A society born from the ashes of anarchy and destruction. Desperate times call for desperate measures. The government has legalized manslaughter to curtail and control the rampant violence between its citizens. You may take another life without any legal ramifications or prosecution. The process is simple. You visit the Ministry of Sanctioned Homicide and you apply for 'Sanction'. If you are accepted, you may take another life with the full support of the law. Elias visits the ministry and applies for Sanction to kill one of his parents. It is granted.

Dreams on Sale: In a world where people are able to record, buy and sell dreams, many are starting to lose the ability of dreaming. Dreams have become a new form of art and a selling product for the rich class. One of the last dream artists is about to attend the opening of his first art exhibition and battles with mixed feelings while preparing for it.

The Sled: A sled brings together two boys from different countries and cultures and carries them through the winter woods of the Italian mountains, far away from their parents' prejudices and isolation. Two children, one sled and a lasting friendship.

This Migrand Business: This Migrant Business shows the existing systems that enable and exploit African migrants seeking better lives in the Middle East and Europe. The system creates a cyclic force, which ensures that demand and supply will continue to feed into each other, indefinitely. This is a lucrative trade with vulnerable people as its currency.

The River: 1942. A band of soldiers has been stuck in the woods during a ceasefire. The momentary peace and the increasing heat of early Spring misleads them into a sense of security and carelessness. After a dream of home and comfort, Anthony, a young soldier, tries to hold on to his humanity and identity, seeking catharsis in the nearby river. Based on the short story To Potami by Greek author Antonis Samarakis.
