Ethno Cyprus 2016

For another year Rialto World Music Festival hosts a concert for Ethno Cyprus, and this is not surprising at all, since the objectives of the two events have many in common. Both Rialto World Music Festival and Ethno Cyprus focus with respect to the traditions of each country, through a multicultural approach.

After the successful organisation of the traditional music camps, through the years, Ethno Cyprus mainly focus on music workshops dedicated to each participating country, with one and only main target: All participating young people will learn about the tradition music of all participating countries.

At the Ethno Cyprus 2016  concert thirty five young virtuoso instrumentalists playing traditional instruments (aged between 15-30) from European (Cyprus, Croatia, Belgium) and Arab (Egypt, Jordan) countries participate in this year’s traditional music camp. Within its framework, the musicians will attempt to unfold and discover the roots of their common music identity, while passing on to each other their own local music traditions. An original repertoire forming a concert that uniquely combines the music traditions of Mediterranean countries.

Ethno Cyprus: Consists of music workshops dedicated to each participating country, so all young people learn the traditional music of all participating countries.

Especially during this period for the Mediterranean region, programs such as Ethno Cyprus aspiring to convert Cyprus into a cultural and educational center of the region, by bringing together young people from different countries, which will contribute to an intercultural dialogue between them. The cultural activities contribute to an economic development and social cohesion.

Ethno Cyprus aims to support the creativity and mobility of young musicians, who will become ambassadors of positive changes in their communities and not only.
