What could the Cypriot author Giorgos Neophytou have in common with the Greek Kostas Mourselas, Russian Anton Chekhov, and American Neil Simon? In the performance "Stories to Wonder About...", through one-act plays and excerpts from works by these four playwrights, a tragicomic exploration examines how people manage their insecurities, need for acceptance, the social control, and the fear of death through illusions that shape their identity. It also examines human weaknesses, and the tension arising when social, emotional, or personal balances are disrupted. The deepest meaning of the dialogue of these texts is to highlight the human need for falsehood, fantasy and delusion as dominant means of survival.
