Dance Groups 2015

The Netherlands - Internationaal Danstheater

Choreographer Vasco Wellenkamp, has taken the roots of fado music as the starting point for an emotional approach to this powerful music. Fado’s themes give expression to the whims of fate and human passions. Traditionally, the lyrics are about the peculiarities of life’s uncertainties, separation, grief, love, faith, a cry for freedom and wanting to fly away.

Greece - ROOTLESSROOT

A show by Linda Kapetanea and Jozef Frucek which deals with womanhood through the notion of the suffering body and the archetypal, dark, tragic heroine Phaedra. The main axis of their artistic practice is the exploration of human emotion; the secret desires expressed through the body.

Spain - HURyCAN

Awarded dance performance by Arthur Bernard Bazin and Candelaria Antelo (Feria Internacional de Teatro y Danza de Huesca, 2013) questions one’s limits and basic communication, through movement.

Sweden - Art Of Spectra

A fragment of a memory, a memory that you do not have full access to. A picture, a sense of an event or dream. Fragments of a memory that you tried to repress. Fragments of a life, of a meeting. «Fragment» by Peter Svenzon investigates adolescence, lost innocence, crucial meetings and unpleasant experiences.

Switzerland - T42dance Projects

The first performance is a humouristic approach by choreographers/ dancers Misato Inoue and Félix Duméril to the story of Madame Butterfly, delivered with a good dose of self-sarcasm. In «Black Swan», Misato Inoue presents herself in a vivid, feelgood manner of aesthetic quality, that resembles a choreographic origami.

France - 6th Dimension

In the first performance, by Séverine Bidaud, three fairytales and three hip hop dancers venture into a tender and mild stroll to shape a world where imagination is the switch from a soft trip. They go in search of the pleasure of the game, give up tensions and automation of adulthood to rediscover a joyous spontaneity. In the second performance, six women’s portraits, reflect with tenderness, humour and nostalgia, the effects of passing time and old age.

Israel - Yossi Berg and Oded Graf Dance Theatre

This performance by Yossi Berg and Oded Graf is a humorous, dark fantasy performed to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach about four men trying to find the ultimate "man" and daring to doubt his existence. A delightful and original show that combines text, singing, and dancing, "4 Men, Alice, Bach and the Deer" was acclaimed by critics as "striking, unforgettable, poetic and surprising".

Italy - Cie Twain Physical Dance

This performance by Loredana Parrella moves on to a personal exploration of the contemporary world. Seven dancing bodies on stage embody at the same time: the heroes of the medieval Crusades, young guys of the Israeli - Palestinian conflict, the students and the police of the riots of the years of lead. The choreography goes beyond the technical to reach an emotional expression, hard-hitting and pure, allowing the bodies of the performers to scream, at the same time, sorrow and love, fragments of complaints in an attempt to highlight the purity of the human being.
