'Hxos Chor Berlin is a mixed chamber choir founded in April 2011 by its Cypriot choirmaster Stelios Chatziktoris. As the name of the choir suggests, ‘Hxos Chor Berlin’s aspiration is to generate full, warm, soulful sounds in order to bring music to the hearts of its audiences. The repertoire of 'Hxos choir covers works from early music to contemporary pieces from all over the world. 'Hxos-Chor comprises around 30 enthusiastic amateur singers, who devotedly and ambitiously work on various projects and their realization.

Over the course of its existence, 'Hxos-Chor Berlin grew not only as a community, but also professionally and especially musically. This has been reflected on the one hand by the delighted reactions of its continuously expanding audience and on the other hand by its establishment on the vivid choir landscape of Berlin. ‘Hxos Choir performs its a capella concerts in various churches of Berlin as well as at music-festivals. The devoted chamber choir also collaborates regularly with other ensembles and conductors to gain new inspiration. In 2016, HXOS participated in the opera production of “Hanns Eisler” Music Academy The Merry Wives of Windsor. ‘Hxos was invited by the Berliner Choir Union to join their “Sunday Concert Series” at the Berlin Philharmonic’s Chamber Music Hall, where different Berlin choirs collaborate to present together a special musical concept.

‘Hxos choir’s first concert tour in Cyprus, the motherland of its choirmaster, was realized in 2014 with performances in Limassol and Paphos. The beautiful experience motivated the Berliner choir to return to Cyprus in November 2018 once again to perform together with “Polyfonia” Chamber Choir Johannes Brahms’ magnificent German Requiem.

‘Hxos choir has obtained several distinctions at international choral competitions: 1st place in the “Early Music” category and 3rd place in the “Sacred Romanticism” category at the German Choir Festival 2016 in Stuttgart and 3rd place and award for the best performance of the compulsory piece at the Harmonie-Festival 2017 in Lindenholzhausen.

Stelios Chatziktoris and his choir have big ambitions and have set for themselves great goals for the future. However, above their determination and motivation for performance, ‘Hxos choir’s first priority is to gently touch the souls of audiences through sound and to transform the choir’s enthusiasm for music into a palpable experience for their listeners.
