4th Cy Choreography Showcase Day 3

The Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus, in collaboration with the Rialto Theatre, organises the 4th Cyprus Choreography Showcase.

This institutional event aims to present selected choreographic pieces conceived and created in Cyprus over the past two years. Specifically, the SXK offers an opportunity for Cyprus-based choreographers to present their works to audiences, artistic directors, programmers, and representatives of international contemporary dance festivals invited for this purpose.

The following choreographers will present their works: Panos Malactos, Petros Konnaris & Rodia Vomvolou, Harry Koushos, Evie Demetriou, Milena Ugren Koulas, Melina Sofocleous, Andria Michaelidou.

Τhe Cyprus Choreography Showcase is complemented by a programme of parallel events,  under the title Meanwhile, organised by Dance House Lemesos, Dance House Lefkosia, and Nea Kinisi.

Drawing from a personal experience of gentrification

a place subjected to constant change… 

Familiar faces and spaces dissolve into 

Something new,Something unfamiliar… 

In its essence, melting occurs in the interplay of active and passive forces… 

of resistance and s u r r e n d e r. 

Out of this, Contradictory emotions intertwine, 

Shaping the body of the performance

The performance invites the audience into a charged, 

un f o l d i n g Landscape where tension and r e l e a se coexist… …and where witnessing becomes part of the melting equation.

20:00 FARMA Andria Michaelidou 25’

The choreographic work FARMA is inspired by the figure of Pan and his mythological dimension as the god of nature, herds, and instinct. On stage, the shepherd figure emerges as a symbol between order and chaos, guiding the “flock” through a liminal space reflecting social and personal struggles. The choreography blends ritual gestures, animalistic movements, and physical confrontations with urban elements and streetwear aesthetics, creating a stage environment that unites the primordial with the contemporary. Within this hybrid landscape, wildness, cyclicality, and transformation become the language of movement. The work invites the audience on a mythical journey exploring the human relationship with chaos, instinct, and the quest for freedom.
