Agios Ioannis Lyceum, within the framework of the 37th Pancyprian School Theatre Competition, presents the play “Alter Ego” written by Maria Hadjimichael.

Sofia, an 18-year-old gifted dancer with a promising future, sees her life change dramatically after a car accident. The play unfolds between the “before” and the “after,” revealing the emotional journey of a young woman forced to redefine who she is. The “before” is filled with rhythm, ambition, and dreams: her dance career, first love, friendships, and plans for higher studies. The “after” confronts her with disability, the loss of friends, heartbreak, conflict within her family, and parents whose relationship begins to fracture under pressure. Isolation becomes part of her new reality. Through pain, truth, and deep inner struggle, Sofia slowly discovers a new identity, away from the ballet stage, yet closer to her authentic self. The acceptance of her alter ego becomes the starting point of a new life.

A powerful theatrical experience about resilience, transformation, loss, and hope.
