David Lynch (1946-2025) was an American auteur filmmaker, visual artist, and musician, renowned for his distinctive cinematic language that blends surrealism and dream logic. After studying painting, he transitioned to film, making his mark with Eraserhead (1977), a cult classic that established his signature style. His body of work includes acclaimed films such as The Elephant Man (1980), Blue Velvet (1986), Wild at Heart (1990), and Mulholland Drive (2001), as well as the seminal TV series Twin Peaks (1990–91, 2017). A four-time Academy Award nominee, Lynch has won the Palme d’Or and received an Honorary Oscar. His works defy conventions, immersing audiences in eerie, hypnotic worlds.
