Peer Gynt

Peer Gynt

Kypria International Festival 2019

A collaborative music and dance performance by Anita Tomasevich, Manolis Neophytou and Fotis Nicolaou, based on the allegorical master piece by Henrik Ibsen (1867).

The epidemic of separation between people is facilitated by social media…the quest to reconnect to the source of the ultimate reality…

Adopting different roles in his escapades, Peer creates different identities towards others only to reject them repeatedly when his audience changes, thus living in an endless parallel reality of false identities. Unable to associate with true nature and its potentials, he becomes an imposter who, despite riches and social success, cannot find inner satisfaction and fulfillment. There, immersed in total catastrophe, his creativity in the core of his being arises to judge him.

Living in a parallel, artificially created world, where stories are made as a sum of our lives, the realm of false identities becomes the norm that carries the ruined and abandoned landscapes of ourselves. Creativity, “thoughtful thoughts” are those that turn into personal ethics and art as a means of revealing the source and a road to salvation.
