The opportunity to enjoy once again the Liguid Loft dance group of the famous choreographer Chris Haring, will have dance friends on Saturday, June 24th at Rialto Theatre. Chris Haring dance group in his previous performance in 2011, as part of the European Dance Festival, had thrilled the audience.
The Imploding Portraits Inevitable-Series, which began with Shiny, Shiny... and False Colored Eyes, continues with Candy’s Camouflage. Projections of the feminine – or what one may take for it – are called up; deceptive stereotypes and fragile clichés are put to the endurance tests they deserve. In Candy’s Camouflage the colourful frenzy of the previous pieces dissolves into the black and white of Film Noir. What remains are the tools of camouflage and deception, which provide the possibility to create a new self again and again. The piece is an ode to weird and messiness, to the controlled chaos of grimaces and erupting dance.
The Austrian choreographer Chris Haring worked with choreographers and companies such as DV8 Physical Theatre (London), Nikolais/Luis Dance Cie (USA), man act (GB), Nigel Charnock (GB), pilottanz et.al. One of the main influences of his performances, such as Fremdkörper (Best Performance at Biennale de La Danse in Lyon 2004) is science fiction and the human body as a cybernetic landscape. Since 2005, he is artistic director of Liquid Loft. In 2010 Chris Haring received the “Outstanding Artists Award” for performing arts from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Arts (BMUKK).
