21st Cyprus Contemporary Dance - Israel

With the internationally acclaimed Dance Group Inbal Pinto & Avshalom Pollak, Israel is represented at the 21st Cyprus Contemporary Dance Festival. The group will present the work ICETREE in choreography by the famous Inbal Pinto and Avshalom Pollak, who star in their country dancing scene, but also internationally, having been presented and awarded in many countries around the world.

A fascinating journey of discovery, diving into the archeological layers of Inbal Pinto’s and Avshalom Pollak’s collaborative work. At a controlled distance, together they return towards the familiar landscapes; it is like reopening a letter sent from faraway, from another time, one that dissipates into the present, forging a completely different experience, and reinventing themselves.

In the depths of Pinto - Pollak fantastic universe, Ionesco’s Chairs come to live in a dance, and the absurd instantly becomes reality. This is a tragicomic encounter between characters in the search for an author and forgotten beings in a place that is nowhere and everywhere, creating a world made of broken dreams. Artists Inbal Pinto and Avshalom Pollak founded their dance company
in 1992. Together they have been involved in a variety of artistic endeavours, including the creation, direction, design and choreography of unique, award- winning, dance performances for their company of 12 dancer-actors based out of the Suzanne Dellal centre in Tel Aviv. Their works have been widely acclaimed and presented in many countries around the world. Inbal Pinto (Artistic Director/Choreographer/Director) was born
in Israel in 1969. She directed, choreographed and designed stage and costumes for dance performances, as well as operas and musicals.

Avshalom Pollak (Artistic Director/Choreographer/Director) was born in Israel in 1970. He was trained as a classical actor and has acted in a large range of lms and television programmes, and has starred in a variety of plays.
