Chunky Funky & Soulful Groove Col

On the occasion of International Jazz Day, celebrated worldwide every year on April 30, the concert offers a contemporary musical experience dedicated to the many expressions of modern jazz.

The 80-minute performance, presented without intermission, brings together on stage two contemporary and creative ensembles: Chunky Funky and Soulful Groove Collective (SGC).

The musical flow of the evening unfolds through a gradual expansion of the ensemble on stage, beginning with the compact trio format of Chunky Funky and evolving into the larger and more dynamic line-up of Soulful Groove Collective. 

Approaching modern jazz from different aesthetic perspectives, the two ensembles explore contemporary jazz expressions built around rhythm, groove and improvisation, under the broader musical umbrella of jazz. Through original compositions, modern arrangements, and strong onstage musical interaction, the concert highlights the vitality and creative energy that define today’s jazz scene.

The event forms part of the international celebrations of International Jazz Day and is presented in co-organisation with Rialto Theatre and Morfitis GEM Music Productions
