Thomas Alexopoulos, a middle-aged businessman, is drowning in his own mistakes and recklessness. When his conflict with the local loan shark spirals into unpredictable territory, and the time left to save his family home is rapidly running out, he is pushed to his limits. When all hope seems lost, a simple and seemingly easy last-minute plan emerges. Α move that could prove to be his only chance to put everything right and emerge victorious.

Director’s Note 

Broken Vein is a contemporary, uncompromising urban drama, inhabited by tragic heroes and fated characters, set within a grey and perilous world. A  seemingly ordinary story, through its unexpected unfolding, reveals the many faces and masks of the individual, while at the same time giving form to one of the darkest nightmares one can experience. Drawing from the deep well of ancient Greek tragic tradition, the film brings the past into the present, reintroducing fundamental concepts such as Ethos, Hubris, Fate, Shame, Excess, and the distinction between voluntary and involuntary crime. Ultimately, what remains at the end of this feverish journey through life is nothing but the solitary, tragic nature of the human condition.
